Greater Houston Heights

The Heights is one of Houston’s most historic neighborhoods. It was developed in the 1890s with the advent of electric street car lines, allowing real estate developers to expand farther from city centers, extending to the Heights. The area became the city’s first large, planned community and was annexed by the City of Houston in 1918.

The Heights offers residents one of Houston’s grandest boulevards, celebrated architecture ranging from Texas Victorians to turn-of-the-century bungalows, acres of parks, antique stores and offbeat boutiques. It is a whimsical mix of old and new with a strong sense of community. In recent years, the area has seen a renewed vitality and interest in preserving the historic significance of the community, attracting new residents and businesses.

Unique, charming and eclectic, this a one-of-a-kind Houston treasure is beloved by those who live and work in the Heights.
